CUES

CUES provides NHS-funded urgent eye care for sudden eye problems, reducing unnecessary GP and A&E visits.

Community Urgent Eye Care

The Community Urgent Eyecare Service (CUES) is an NHS-funded service providing prompt assessment and treatment for sudden or urgent eye problems. This service is delivered by our accredited optometrists, who have undergone additional training to manage a range of urgent eye conditions safely and efficiently.

CUES

Some examples of urgent eye problems that can be assessed and treated under CUES include:

  • Sudden changes in vision
  • Red or painful eyes
  • Flashes of light or new floaters
  • Foreign body in the eye
  • Sudden onset of double vision
  • Eye infections
  • Minor eye injuries
  • Emergency contact lens problems

Patients can access the CUES service directly by contacting our practice, through NHS 111, or via referral from their GP. This NHS-funded service is free of charge, providing fast, local care for urgent eye problems and helping avoid unnecessary A&E visits. Please note, CUES does not replace emergency care; for severe eye injuries or sudden complete loss of vision, seek immediate help at A&E or an urgent care centre.
